Queer contra dancers in the San Francisco area
Down with commercialized, faux "holiday festivity"! Up with RAUCOUS BARN|
What? A special Sunday Evening Queer Contra Dance
Who? The Groovemongers, two women and one man who are widely considered
to be one of the most talented and electrifying contra bands in the
nation. Many consider their CD "Fresh Wares" to be the finest contra
recording ever made. And Erik Hoffman, the "gold standard" for calling
simple, fun dances, will teach and call.
When? Sunday, December 9, from 6-9 p.m. (note the early start time).
Where? Humanist Hall, 390 27th St (between Broadway and Telegraph),
Oakland. The 19th St. BART stop is about seven blocks away.
Why? Because, like Moving Violations who we had last March, this band has
the power to transport us to a state of Dionysian ecstasy!
How Much? $10 or pay what you can.
